Bing Chat (New Bing)
A chat-based AI search tool inside Bing/Edge that helps general users and office workers turn web queries into cited answers, summaries, and rough drafts.
Tool overview
In adoption terms, New Bing is best seen as a widely recognized AI search product with fairly understood strengths and limits, not a newly emerging standalone creation suite. In the evidence set, proof of attention mostly comes from many Zhihu explainers, launch/open-preview news, and roundup-style posts; that shows sustained interest. Proof of usefulness is stronger in hands-on guides, comparison writeups, and media breakdowns of its search-plus-chat workflow, which support the judgment that it works well for search-augmented Q&A and summarization. It is not a full office automation platform, and not just a classic search box either; a better analogy is an AI search assistant that combines live retrieval, cited answers, and chat interaction.
The practical value is fairly consistent across sources: conversational search, summaries based on webpages and search results, answers with citations, some drafting support, and at certain stages image generation or webpage analysis. That makes it useful for research prep, coursework, market scanning, travel planning, and lightweight writing drafts, especially when users want leads first and judgment second.
