ChatGPT
ChatGPT is a general conversational AI that helps writers, students, knowledge workers, and developers produce drafts, summaries, scripts, code snippets, and image concepts.
Tool overview
Adoption judgment: ChatGPT is clearly a mainstream tool. The evidence includes an official OpenAI X post about new voice capability rollout and multiple casual user mentions, which strongly supports awareness and broad usage. But hype is not the same as proof of usefulness: reposts, views, and media aggregation show attention, while hands-on tutorials, detailed use cases, and official or community repos are better evidence for capability and workflow fit. In this set, heat signals are much stronger than rigorous evaluation.
Practical role: Based on Zhihu walkthroughs and user anecdotes, ChatGPT is best understood as a general text-and-ideas workstation plus light creative assistant, not a vertical specialist app. It can rewrite and restructure text, turn messy notes into structured summaries, generate scripts and ideas, help with lightweight pricing thinking, answer coding questions, and support image-style exploration inside ChatGPT. The chatgpt.js repo also suggests developer workflow integration through JS and CLI.
