DeepSeek
A large language model platform providing low-cost models and tools to help office workers and developers with coding, writing, and data processing.
Tool overview
DeepSeek provides a series of large language models, including V4, for natural language conversation, long document reading, batch text rewriting, and smart data correction. Its browser extension, DeepSeek-pp, further integrates MCP tools, memory, skills, automation, web search, and conversation export, forming an AI agent workspace. Users can access AI via the web interface, API, or plugins for WPS/Office.
Advantages: Extremely low API costs (evidence suggests input pricing of a few cents to a few yuan per million tokens, far lower than GPT-4o); strong adaptation for Chinese office tasks, especially long documents and batch processing; the extension provides an integrated AI environment in the browser.
Disadvantages/barriers: The model can still produce confident hallucinations (one social media user noted “confabulating confident bullshit”); API usage requires managing keys and some technical know-how; requires an internet connection; high risk in fields requiring strict factual accuracy, such as law or medicine.
Cost and deployment: The web version is free for basic use; API is pay‑per‑use with very low cost, and the extension’s pricing is not indicated by current evidence.
