emilkowalski/skills
An open-source skill library for design engineers and frontend builders that helps agents produce more consistent UI edits, animation improvements, and design-guided implementation suggestions.
Tool overview
Based on the current evidence, this project looks worth trying for design engineers and frontend teams that care about polish, but it should be read as a “design knowledge pack for agents,” not a fully validated standalone design product. The adoption take is cautiously positive: the author launched it directly, community reposts are strong, and a few users showed real usage with /improve and /improve-animations. Still, proof of attention is stronger than proof of repeatable utility, so the sample is promising but limited.
Its practical role is to package judgment about Apple-inspired UI, motion curves, hierarchy, and design tradeoffs into commands that can be added with npx skills, so coding agents review and modify frontend work with a more explicit taste framework. It is not a Figma replacement, and not a text-to-full-mockup generator. A more accurate comparison is a plugin-like skill pack that gives Claude Code/Cursor-style agents design review heuristics and improvement workflows. In the X discussions, /apple-design and /improve-animations get the most attention: the former is about principles and examples, the latter about checking and refining motion.
