Generative AI for Beginners

This is a structured open-source course, not a ready-to-use AI tool or API. It addresses the lack of clear learning paths for generative AI beginners: 21 lessons with runnable Jupyter Notebooks (Python and TypeScript), videos, and progressive topics—from LLM fundamentals to building chat, search, image generation, and agent-powered apps using Azure OpenAI or OpenAI API.

The course is completely free under the MIT license. Learners only need a browser and basic coding interest; the API keys for OpenAI or Azure OpenAI must be acquired separately, with costs borne by the user (as indicated by official docs and community tutorials). High-end local hardware is not required thanks to cloud-based environments like GitHub Codespaces.

It suits university students, career-switchers, and self-learners who want a systematic, code-first introduction. It is not for those who already train models or want a polished, one-click AI product—it is an interactive textbook, not a black-box tool. A good analogy is the project-driven style of FreeCodeCamp, applied to generative AI.
