Mobi Maliang is an AI image generation tool built by Moore Threads for its own GPUs (e.g., S80, S4000), wrapping open-source models and providing a WebUI interface. It allows users to generate images via text prompts on Ubuntu systems with Moore Threads graphics cards; benchmark tests show about 1.8 it/s for 512×512 images on an S80, and batch processing is possible when paired with ComfyUI. The advantage is that it fills the gap in local AI drawing tools for Moore Threads hardware users, leveraging proprietary computing power, working offline, and offering better data privacy. However, the tool has significant barriers: it only supports Moore Threads GPUs, requires Ubuntu, and is not easy for average consumers to set up. The community is small with limited tutorials, and evolution depends on official updates. Its underlying capabilities rely heavily on the open-source community, and it cannot match the rich plugin ecosystem of NVIDIA-based Stable Diffusion WebUI. There are also concerns about originality, as some critics claim it simply 'copies' open-source models.
