However, Project IDX was merged into Firebase Studio in 2025 and may no longer receive standalone updates. Google has previously shut down similar services like Gemini CLI, raising questions about long-term stability. The tool depends fully on cloud and connectivity; offline use is not possible, and cloud-hosted code may be a concern for sensitive projects.
