SciMaster
A general-purpose AI research agent co-developed by SJTU and DP Technology, combining 170M+ scholarly records with multi-step reasoning to accelerate literature reviews, experiment planning, and knowledge discovery.
Tool overview
SciMaster is a research automation agent designed to handle end-to-end scientific workflows. It decomposes complex questions into sub-tasks, searches across its massive literature index, verifies contradictory information, and produces structured outputs with references. Public tests show it can suggest DFT parameters for computational chemistry, compare startups for investment scouting, and even generate interview questions after fact-checking a person’s background.
Its main strength lies in disciplined, traceable reasoning and broad academic coverage. Unlike generic chatbots, SciMaster cross-checks data points, flags homonymous authors, and insists on source-backed claims. This makes it reliable for producing literature surveys, protocol drafts, and competitive intelligence reports. The result is a dramatic reduction in the time required to move from a vague idea to a concrete, reference-supported plan.
Key limitations have also been observed. The agent is highly prompt-sensitive; poorly formulated queries can lead to narrow or superficial answers.
