SearchGPT

SearchGPT is an experimental AI search engine developed by OpenAI that integrates large language models with live web indexing. Users can ask questions in natural language and receive structured, cited answers. Unlike traditional search engines, SearchGPT summarizes web content and presents information with embedded images, videos, and widgets for a more intuitive experience. Its main strengths include fast response times, a clean ad-free interface, and the ability to handle complex follow-up questions, helping users quickly digest topics. Early tests showed interactive capabilities in local recommendations and real-time news queries, and it can play YouTube videos or display stock charts, offering rich multimedia. However, as a prototype, SearchGPT still has notable weaknesses: hallucination issues persist, with instances where cited data did not match the source or answers contradicted each other.
