Tool overview

Showrunner transforms a story idea into a finished animated episode within minutes. Once the user provides a text prompt, the system uses large language models to generate a script, and then combines diffusion models with multi-agent simulations to produce animation, voiceover, and editing. Developed by Fable, a San Francisco startup founded by former Pixar and Oculus Story Studios talent, the platform has been dubbed the “Netflix of AI.”

Its main strength is an extremely low barrier to entry. Even without drawing or coding skills, you can turn an idea into an animated video, even casting yourself as the lead. The AI-generated South Park demo attracted over 80 million views, highlighting AI’s potential for viral entertainment.

However, output quality remains uneven. Plotlines may feel shallow, visuals rough, and unauthorized use of existing IP raises copyright risks. It also fuels concerns about job displacement in creative industries. The tool is best suited to rapid prototyping, social media shorts, and playful experiments, not high-end professional production.

Pricing information has not been publicly disclosed; the platform is live, but its cost structure is unclear.
