Wisfile
Wisfile is a locally-run AI file organization tool that intelligently batch-renames and auto-categorizes files based on their content.
Tool overview
Wisfile addresses the problem of messy file names, disorganized folders, and time-consuming manual file sorting. Instead of manually renaming each file, Wisfile uses a local AI engine to scan file content (PDFs, Word documents, images) and extract key information to generate standardized file names in bulk. Its core capabilities: AI content recognition for automatic renaming (supporting author-year-title templates), automatic folder categorization by topic, and customizable naming rules. It supports PDF, Word, and image files, with built-in OCR. Key strengths: 100% local processing with no cloud dependency, completely free with no feature restrictions, and a privacy mode for offline work. The main caveat: renaming quality depends on the AI model's understanding of file content. Currently supports Windows and Mac (Linux in development), with both desktop and web access. Ideal for academic researchers and engineers; less suitable for enterprise-grade permissions and team collaboration.
