Ying (Zhipu Qingying)
A free AI video generator that turns text or images into short, high-quality videos, helping creators and marketers produce social media clips, ads, and more.
Tool overview
Ying offers both text-to-video and image-to-video generation. After providing a prompt or uploading an image, users can obtain a video of 6–10 seconds at up to 4K 60fps in about 30 seconds, often with AI-generated sound effects. It is freely available to consumers on the Zhipu Qingyan platform and supports unlimited trials. Developers can integrate via API on bigmodel.cn or run the open-source CogVideoX models locally, even on a single GPU with 16GB VRAM.
With the ‘New Ying’ update, the model shows greatly improved motion amplitude, visual aesthetics, and consistency, especially for image-to-video. The underlying CogVideoX model is open-sourced, allowing enterprises to build custom solutions without recurring costs.
However, Ying may still produce occasional artifacts or style shifts in complex scenes, and output quality heavily depends on prompt engineering. It sometimes lags behind top-tier proprietary models like Runway or Kling in ultra-high fidelity and precise control; free access also comes with limits on video length and resolution.
Ying is ideal for content creators, social media managers, and marketers who need quick, low-cost visual assets.
